Project Title:

“Broad Class- Listen to Learn” Interactive Radio Instruction Program.

Goal and Objectives

The program aims to improve the quality, equity and inclusiveness in education with ultimate goal of improving school achievements.

 

The objectives of the program are:

1.To improve the learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy of young children;

2.To promote child centered practices at primary level in target schools;

3.Improve quality of teachers through capacity building measures;

4.Increase participation and satisfaction of parents /community in schools through planned motivational programs;

5.Promote health and hygiene information through airing on daily health message in the radio lesson

Target:

Approximately 7,585 children of 187 Classrooms (KG – Grade II) of public schools in Abbottabad district of KPK province.

Project Title:

Access to Information in Pakistan.

Objectives

1.Citizens of Pakistan obtain unbiased and conflict-sensitive information concerning the situation in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Baluchistan.

2.The rural population in FATA, KP and Baluchistan obtains a comprehensive scope of information from various Pakistani media (including independent/ private broadcasters) representing the full range of public opinions in Pakistan.

Major Activities/Outputs:

1.Training of “community Contributors of Women’s groups in KPK and Baluchistan.

2.Mentoring/Monitoring of community contributors to build their capacities in developing tracking sheets and improved working between them and staff of partner FM station.

3.Meetings with district education departments in Quetta and Abbottabad to assess their needs on Participatory information Programs (PIPS) formats for educational purposes.

4.Training of educational department officials and teachers in Quetta and Abbottabad to use radio program (PIPS) for educational purposes in schools.

5.Production and airing of 6 educational programs by partner FM station in Abbottabad and Quetta and getting feedback from teachers on implementation in classrooms.

Project Title:

To enhance learning achievements in literacy and numeracy of children in primary grade, especially in districts with low learning achievement rates.

The objectives of the program:

1.To improve the learning outcomes of children in urban and rural areas;

2.To improve teaching practices and learning environment in classrooms;

3.To improve attendance and enrolment;

4.To increase participation parents, members of school councils andcommunities in school activities.

Target:

Approximately 3,000 children of 100 Classrooms (KG – Grade I) of public schools in Abbottabad district of KPK province.

Project Title:

Access to Balanced Information in Pakistan Phase III.

Objectives

1.Citizens of Pakistan obtain unbiased and conflict-sensitive information concerning the situation in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Baluchistan.

2.The rural population in FATA, KP and Baluchistan obtains a comprehensive scope of information from various Pakistani media (including independent/ private broadcasters) representing the full range of public opinions in Pakistan.

Major Activities/Outputs:

1.Integration of participatory information and education programs by FM stations of the media networks into their transmission sequence/schedule.

2.Local radio stations build their capacities in the production of participatory radio programs.

3.The focus is on information and education programs for youth and adults residing in remote areas.

4.Under the guidance of Radio News Network of POWER99 Foundation, Teachers from local schools in KP and Baluchistan use the participatory radio programs in their classes in order to initiate discussions and debates.

Project Title:

“Broad Class – Listen to Learn” Interactive Radio Instruction Program.

Goal and Objectives

The goal of the program is to enhance learning achievements in literacy and numeracy and connect 6 them to learning through storytelling and other art forms and provide appreciation for different cultures

 

The overall objective of the project focuses on teaching English as a Second Language to children age 5-11 years with the following sub-objectives:

1.To develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in young children

2.To introduce new vocabulary or difficult proper names or locales.

3.Develop fluency using books that reflect curriculum content and participation styles

4.To promote child centered practices at primary level in target area and reduce dropouts

5.Improve quality of teachers through several capacity building measures

6.To develop self-confidence and public speaking skills in children.

7.To involve special populations such as the elderly, the handicapped and slow learners, speakers of English as a second language and communities in the renewal of this art.

8.To sensitize parents, community and teachers on the importance of girls’ education and health; and encourage dialogue on the social development needs of marginalized communities. Increase participation of parents in schools through planned motivational programs

9.To introduce latest technologies (radio with USB and Memory card) as a medium in direct teaching and learning process for improving quality of education

Target:

Approximately 4,000 children of 150 Classrooms (KG – Grade II) of public schools in Quetta district of Baluchistan province.

Project Title:

Access to Balanced information Phase II.

Objectives

1.Citizens of Pakistan obtain unbiased and conflict-sensitive information concerning the situation in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Baluchistan.

2.The rural population in FATA, KP and Baluchistan obtains a comprehensive scope of information from various Pakistani media (including independent/ private broadcasters) representing the full range of public opinions in Pakistan.

Major Activities/Outputs:

1.Capacity assessment of 8 FM radios.

2.Conduct FGDs with stakeholders in KPK and Baluchistan to identify the needs of communities for radio programs.

3.Conduct need based training on production of information programming for owners/Managers and editorial staff of 4 FM stations of KPK and Baluchistan.

4.Finalize strategies for partnership with FM stations of KPK and Baluchistan.

5.Finalize terms of partnership agreements.

6.Mentoring visits to partner FM stations on production of community need based programs.

Project Title:

“Knowledge is Fun” Children Media for Pakistan.

Objectives:

Pakistani media will autonomously produce educationally valuable children’s programs (age-group: 5 to 12 years) on a long-term basis, offering the children customized programs all across the country. Children will thereby obtain alternative information and enhance their critical abilities

Major Activities/Outputs:

1.The Pakistani radio broadcaster “Power 99” established a high-quality children’s program as an inherent part of his transmission program and has the editorial and organizational resources to realize it permanently (Best Practice Example).

2.Long term strategy planned for establishing children’s radio show according to international quality criteria.

3.Local staff and experts trained by international trainer for production of Children’s educational programs.

4.Children’s programs developed under the supervision of international experts.
