Hello and welcome to all our dear listeners of Awaz-e-Dosti (Voice of Friendship). We hope you are well, safe, and in good health.
In today’s episode, host Shabnam Muhagirzaad explores an important and timely topic: the role of exile media following the changes in Afghanistan.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, restrictions on media and freedom of expression have significantly affected Afghanistan’s media landscape. Challenges such as censorship, limitations on critical reporting, and restrictions on certain forms of programming have forced many journalists and media organizations to relocate and continue their work from outside the country.
As a result, exile media outlets have become an important source of information for Afghans, providing news, analysis, and a platform for voices that may otherwise go unheard.
To discuss this topic, Shabnaam is joined by Maliha Afzali, an experienced journalist working with a respected media organization. Together, they examine the role of exile media in informing the public, amplifying the voices of Afghan citizens to the international community, and addressing the information gaps left by the decline of independent media inside Afghanistan.
Join us for this insightful conversation on journalism, freedom of expression, and the evolving role of Afghan media in exile.
